Third carousel ride of the Global 3D printing project
Last week, VET students from two Dutch (MBO) schools and two German Schools worked together on a sustainable future. Students from Talland College (Zaandam), Nova College (Beverwijk), BBS Verden and BBS Soltau picked one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and designed and 3D printed their own message to the world related to that SDG.
The students followed workshops at the 3D Makers Zone in Haarlem and virtually boarded the d3aak, a 3D printed sailing boat. They also worked on a project by Plastic Whale, aimed at cleaning up plastic in the oceans. The project was concluded with a presentation in English to colleagues from Oakton College in Chicago. The next exchange between the Dutch and German students is planned for December.

Teacher visit to C the Future event
This week teachers (seven in total) from Sam Eyde College (Norway), UCRS (Denmark), Santurtzi (Spain) and Miguel Altuna (Spain) paid us a two-day visit. Thursday there were guided tours at Nova College Beverwijk and Talland College Zaandam and a dinner in Amsterdam. Friday the group visited the C the Future event in Haarlem, with the 3D Makers Zone, a key partner in the Global 3D printing 2.0 project, as one of the organizing parties. The event gave us a clear picture and a lot of inspiration of where the tech sector is heading to.

Chicago trip
Last week 12 teaching and managerial staff of 5 European schools (BBS Verden Germany, BBS Soltau Germany, Pauliskolan Malmö Sweden, Teknikum Växjö Sweden and Regio College Zaandam Netherlands) visited Oakton Community College, Chicago in the US in the context of the 1 for All Global 3D printing project 2.0. We not only learned how to design, and 3D print SDG inspired tiles and cubes, but - more importantly - what we can learn from each other by sharing experiences and ideas. A very inspiring week! Thans Oakton team for making it happen!
